A couple months back my cellphone took a 10-minute swim in some sweet tea. (According to my Facebook timeline it was June 11 to be exact.)
What I didn’t say on Facebook was that I was upset, VERY UPSET, because it had contained two years of past voicemails from my mom. She had passed away only two weeks earlier and then, her voicemails were gone too. The last time she sang me happy birthday, the stories she felt like randomly sharing, the tidbits of her daily life, and her quick messages to tell me she is proud of me.
I tried to fix the phone. I put it in rice for 6 weeks to dry it out but it still had visible water in the screen. After bemoaning my phones fate for the hundredth time, a friend of mine recommended I (and I am quoting here) “just take out the two little screws at the bottom and pop it open so it can dry out.”
FYI – DO NOT TAKE OUT THOSE TWO LITTLE SCREWS! YOUR IPHONE DOES NOT “POP OPEN”!
So after ignoring my better instinct (and the little voice in my head that sounded like my dear departed dad stressing the importance of NOT forcing mechanical items to do what you want), I pulled my iPhone apart and literally destroyed it. When I heard those little tiny wires rip off the little tiny computer board inside, I realized that – GASP! – I needed professional help.
So, I did a search. And let me tell you, there are a LOT of companies that repair iPhones. I went through several of the different sites and read about their services. And I found www.myibroke.com. I don’t know what about their site made me decide on them, I think it may have been the words “motherboard repair” that spoke to me. Anyway, the next day I called them and told them my story of woe. And they didn’t make any promises, but they said they would try. And they spent a lot of time on it. And they kept telling me about what they were trying and they still said there were no promises. And then they called me and told me that they had my voicemails. They had fixed it enough to get those voicemails out of the phone. I sent them a baggie filled with plastic and wires and bits of iPhone, and they emailed me my mom’s voice. Over 20 messages were recovered. And I heard her sing me happy birthday again. And I cried.
I am not exaggerating my story. I am not making any of this up. I don’t know if any other companies would have gone to the lengths that myibroke.com went to, but I do know that I will be singing their praises to anyone who will listen. They gave me an incredible gift. Honestly and whole-heartedly, thank you myibroke. Thank you so much.

If you look at each of our water damage repair products you will get a very in-depth explanation of what exactly it is that you are getting from us!
Did you drop your iPhone or iPad in water or some other liquid?
We get a lot of questions in our contact us form that look like this “Can you fix my water damaged iPhone”.
If your iDevice is water damaged (or damaged by some other type of liquid) then you need this service. We would like to clarify the details of our iPhone water damage cleaning service before you order so that you can have all of the information you need before making the decision as to whether or not we can help you.
What are you getting from us?
When an iPhone or other iDevice gets wet there are a multitude of things that can go wrong, so we start off by using our regular iPhone diagnostic methods like swapping the battery or dock connector. We try a lot of other things as well, but those are a few examples. If we find that it is a simple hardware exchange the cost of the water damage cleaning service is applied to that repair and we ship your phone back to you fixed.
If we find that it is not a simple hardware exchange, we start the iPhone water damage cleaning process by pulling the motherboard out of the device, removing the heat shields, and proceed to scrub the board down with various solutions. Once that is done we let the board soak in more chemicals for a minimum of 12 hours. After the soak, the board is removed from the chemical solution and set to naturally dry. Usually after this process we are able to get the device to function again.
If that does not work, we run the board through our ultrasonic cleaner. This cleaner coupled with a low foaming detergent is highly effective in cleaning corrosion and other residues from the motherboard.
All of these processes are repeated as many times as necessary until we are able to revive the device. Sometimes we have to get Our iPhone motherboard repair technicians involved. They are proficient in iPhone repairs at the motherboard level, and our motherboard solering diagnostic is included in this service option.
We are one of the only companies in the field that have “gone this far down into the rabbit hole” with motherboard level repairs sometimes needed in cases of iPhone water damage. If we do find that your iPhone 3g needs motherboard work, we will communicate all of our finding with you as they surface.
Without boring you with anymore lengthy details, there is about an 85% chance we can save your phone by our math.
You are in good hands!
We know how important it is to have these devices back and working order after any unexpected loss to water or other liquids, but be patient with us, this process usually takes a minimum of 48 hours, sometimes longer if necessary.
Our trained repair technicians have been exposed to every type of damage an iPhone could possibly suffer. We have done hundreds, if not thousands of iPhone and iPad repairs, and iPhone water damage repairs are among the most common services utilized through our mail in options.
Want to do this repair yourself?
What we dohere is not something that most peole can do, but you can help us before you send your phone in. We recommend that you attempt to remove the front panel of the device and THEN put it in rice. Putting a fully assembled device in a bag of rice does nothing but leave moisture trapped inside of your iPhone. It is the mineral deposits left behind when the liquid dries that causes the damage / corrosion. If you feel comfortable removing the board then it’s a good idea to get it away from the battery. If you are not comfortable doing any of these things yourself, get it here ASAP – the sooner the better. We have saved hundreds of water damaged iPhones that did not get here right away, but getting it in fast is defiantly the best idea.
